Land & Mapping Services was formed to provide its clientele with "State of the Art Professional Photogrammetric Mapping and Surveying Services". Firm wide our staff is well experienced in all phases of digital photogrammetry and it's associated Surveying services. The current experience level of our senior employees averages over twenty years and encompasses projects located throughout the world. Included are five (5) Registered Professional Land Surveyor covering eleven (11) states of practice. Seven (7) Certified GPS Technicians, three (3) Certified Divers and one Certified Photogrammetrist. Professional Licensing Information
Please note that all states require that at a minimum, anyone who provides or offers to provide land surveying services be licensed in the state in which the project resides. In some states such as Pennsylvania this can also include other areas of service such as the calculation of volumetric quantities, photogrammetry, geodetic control, GPS location services, etc. Due to the fact that we offer a very broad range of services and that all 50 states have different registration requirements we at Land & Mapping Services can only offer to provide you services in states in which by law we are permitted to do so. ANALYTICAL BRIDGING
Land & Mapping Services has full in house capabilities to perform analytical bridging. This technology gives us the ability to quickly resolve control problems and to keep overall control costs to a minimum. All projects are pugged on a Wild Point Transfer Device and measured on First-Order Stereo Instruments or via our Kern PMG-2 then adjusted via Albany analytical bridging software.
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAMMETRIC MAPPING
All digital mapping is collected via one of seven (7) Intergraph / Zeiss IMA first order stereo instruments. These machines are well known to be one of the top stereo collection instruments in the industry. The primary software utilized for map compilation is a combination of Cadmap and Intergraph Microstation. The combination of these two powerful packages gives us the ability to economically collect clean three-dimensional (3D) files. We can provide you with everything from Digital Terrain Models (DTM's) to complete planimetric or topographic mapping utilizing YOUR symbol libraries, blocks, line types and/or styles. Products can be provided in many software data formats including Intergraph Microstation, AutoCAC, Terra Model, ARC/INFO and others.
CAD EDIT
The process of cad edit is completed on one of five (5) cad edit stations running Intergraph Microstation, AutoCAD, Arc View, Terra Model / Plus 3 and others as required. All five workstations are Pentium based systems of 200 MHz to dual 550 MHz speeds. Projects can be shipped on floppy diskettes, cartridge tapes or CD-ROMS along with crisp color 600 DPI inkjet plots. All digital files are monitored to assure that they are of minimum size, you will not find clusters upon clusters of useless points in our files.
AERIAL FILM SCANNING
All film scanning is completed on our Vexcel Ultrascan 5000. This precision film scanner gives us the ability to scan at resolutions over 5000 DPI.
DIGITAL ORTHO-PHOTO PRODUCTION
Today, digital ortho imagery has become one of the more poular data sources in large land-base projects. Digital ortho rectification is completed by utilizing INTERGRAPH Imagestation Z/I or PCI Enterprises Inc. software. If required the 3D ground points can be provided in-house through our photogrammetric mapping group or secured/produced through other data sources. Additional information is available on file size, pixel size to ground units, image scanning recommendations etc.
Softcopy Photogrammetry
Land & Mapping Services operates two (2) softcopy photogrammetric mapping units. For specific type of data collection, "Softcopy" does have its advantages. Softcopy photogrammetry gives us the ability to overlay old mapping over new aerial photography and to quickly see and/or revise areas which have changed over the intervening time period. For sites such as landfills and in cities, towns and in county sized projects, this has proven to be one of the most economical methods of map revision.
GIS/LIS
Collectively our staff has been responsible for the production of well over eight hundred square miles of GIS/LIS base mapping. We can provide you with everything from the design and production of your base data to a complete turnkey system including hardware and training. We can provide you with customization on ArcView and ARC/INFO GIS software platforms in Avenue and AML scripting languages. Custom scripting can help automate your daily procedures and enable users with moderate or low experience in GIS. If you have an existing system there's a good chance that it can be improved or is in need of updating, the staff at Land & Mapping Services has the expertise to provide these services too.
FIELD CONTROL & COMPLETION
We do realize that 100% of the detail can not be located by photogrammetric techniques and possibly due to your current backlog your survey crew(s) may not be available. It is at these times that our survey group can be of significant value to you. Our current equipment list includes total stations, data collectors, first-order levels, field computers along with TDS, Eagle Point and Softdesk software. Some of our latest acquisitions include three (3) Nikon one second total stations, three (3) Trimble XR code based GPS units and four (4) Trimble 4400 Real Time Kinematic "RTK" systems. Our continued investment in equipment such as this gives us ability to offer our clients alternative methods to economically locate various types of information in the field.
GPS LOCATION SERVICES
As a value-added service to our clients we do provide both code phase and carrier phase realtime GPS services. The addition of this service enables us to provide our clientele with the comfort in knowing that all services were completed in-house and under our direct professional supervision.

LASER SCANNING & MODELING
What is "Laser Scanning & Modeling?" Land & Mapping Services utilizes a portable auto scanning laser and PC software to quickly map and model complex sites and structures with outputs of an unprecedented level of detail and accuracy. We simply point the "Cyrax" scanner at the desired scene, select the desired area & scan density and it will "auto scan" true 3D geometry of the entire structure within minutes. As points accumulate, a highly accurate and detailed graphic image starts to appear on the screen. Upon completion of the scan each point appears on the system's laptop screen. The system's software lets users create initial 3D models right on site and has the ability to accurately "stitch" adjacent scans together to form a complete and true 3D mosaic.
One of the most important aspects of this technology is that very accurate measurements and volumes can be easily done anywhere and between any objects captured during the scanning process.
Also an important aspect is that you do not need to have direct physical access to a site and/or object, this can be very important in areas or sites that would put people at risk.To date the technology has been utilized to produce highly accurate 3D mapping of:

SURVEYING
GPS SERVICES
Land & Mapping Services is proud to offer and provide both code and carrier phase realtime GPS (Global Positioning System) Services. The addition of this new technology now enables us to provide our clientele with the ability to economically locate valuable geographic information with both real-time code and carrier phase equipment. If you are not sure which system meets your accuracy and/or data collection requirements please be sure to contact us for our recommendations.
CODE SERVICES
This service is normally referred to as being "submeter" in positional accuracy. We currently utilize Trimble Navigation GPS / MSK Pro XR and XRS receivers for this level of measurement. The information gathered in the field is coded as you would with a standard data collector and later processed against a local base station to achieve positions accurate at times to the submeter level. This equipment is utilized for projects where the positional accuracy of the measured positions is less critical than those that would be obtained with the more accurate dual frequency receivers. The Trimble XRS receivers give us real-time navigation capability anywhere in our service area. This allows us to navigate back to and relocate previously located or calculated positions.
CARRIER SERVICES
This service is at times referred to as being "subcentimeter" level in positional accuracy. We also employ equipment produced by Trimble Navigation for these procedures but utilize the more accurate Trimble "Total Station" 4400 units capable of RTK "Real Time Kinematic" positioning and stakeout. These units can also be utilized as standard dual frequency GPS receivers recording data in both the static or rapid static-mode. In addition the new RTK 4400 system can collect and code data just as you would with an ordinary data collector.

Land & Mapping Services is proud to announce the addition of two new handheld HUSKY field computers for our forest land managers. Our HUSKY field computers run Two Dog Version 2.0 (Distributed by FORS.) and SILVAH Version 4.04 (Developed by the USDA -- Northeastern Research Station.) These enable efficient and economical collection of forest sample and cruise data in all environments. Data from the hand held is easily downloaded to desktop PCs running Two Dog and SILVAH software for analysis and report printing.
